Shae had her annual Dr's visit at Primary Childrens yesterday. I was a little discouraged from the results. The echo showed that her heart is still not pumping hard enough----something to do with the back part of her heart not pushing hard enough to get all of the blood out of her heart. And, her weight gain was less than adequate for the Dr's standards. (which, kind of frustrates me because that little girl can EAT!!!) Who else asks for carrots as a snack??? Come on, my kid should be asking for cookies or better yet rice krispy treats! Anyways----the echo didn't show a VSD (another hole)....but he could still hear one, apparently its not a big enough hole to be of any concern. AND----one of her valves is leaking....which must not be too big of a concern either because nothing more was said about it. However, because I said that her energy level seems to be PLENTY adequate for her age----he is going to let us hold off on putting her on any medication for ANOTHER year and see what happens. Blah- We also got to have a pacemaker check.....things are good in that department. Give the battery another TWO years and it will need to be replaced. YUCK.
So...today we were at another one of Shae's DENTIST appointments (poor girl was blessed with my teeth---after being on the gas for a few minutes she started chatting up a storm with the dentist. It started off with her telling him how I burnt her hand with the curling iron....LOVELY. Then she went on to say (in her exact words without taking a breath), "I went to the ticker Dr. yesterday and he said I need to eat a lot so that my heart can grow strong and I will need to have my tummy cut open so I can get a new ticker but it will be ok because they will put me to sleep." The dentist looked at me with big eyes and I had to explain to him that she had a pacemaker.
All-in-all, I can't complain. Things could be MUCH worse. Everytime I go to Primary Childrens, I am reminded how lucky I am to have my baby girl. But I am also reminded how lucky I am to have to deal with what we have to deal with---things could be SO much worse.

As long as i have known you, you have always been the most positive person!!! You are amazing. Shea is so lucky to have a mom like you!!! She is the cutest girl too!! Hope things keep going well for Shea, if i can do anything let me know
Okay, that's really funny about the "ticker doctor" and the curling iron - it's scary what some kids say, but then compound that with gas/drugs, and it's big trouble :)
Glad that she's doing okay - I'm sorry everything is resolved. You certainly have a great attitude - keep it up.
She's a very special little girl!
Sweet little Shae.....I love the energy of that child...you would never know there was anything going on with her ticker. Love her gas-induced-ramblings :)
